Dark and Lovely wrapped up NYFW by celebrating 45 years of trendsetting hair care. Recognized as the first company to introduce hair color for black women, the brand continues to grow. Dark and Lovely offers a range of products including: relaxers, fade resistant color and the Au Naturale line.
Additionally, the brand launched Dark and Lovely Color-Gloss Ultra Radiant Color , an ammonia- free color. As well as Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Clumping Curl Clay, a product formulated with coconut oil and Argan oil, with a focus on curl definition and reducing frizz.
In order to celebrate this milestone beauty influencers were treated to themed cocktails and couture bites. Further, one highlight of the evening was a presentation of iconic looks from each decade of the brands history. From the blonde-textured afros of the 70’s to modern day twist outs, Dark and Lovely has been with us every step of the way; ensuring our manes were in tact. Also, Brand Ambassador Demetria McKinney treated attendees by singing a single from her latest project.
Tom Joyner Foundation Scholarships
Finally, in partnership with the Tom Joyner Foundation and the Young Women With A Purpose, the brand awarded $10,000 in scholarships. All scholarship winners were young women attending HBCU’s (Historically Black Colleges and University’s).
