Galentine’s Day: A Celebration of Best Friends

Besties Celebrating Galentine’s

Haters will say “Galentine’s  Day” is only for the lonely. They will hold on to the belief  that only bitter, single women celebrate the *holiday*.

Galentines Day Defined

The Urban Dictionary defines Galentine’s Day as February 13th, the other half of valentine’s day, when you celebrate your love for your lady friends! single or no.

I see the day  as an opportunity for women to really celebrate each other on a day bound by traditional romantic relationships. Further,  My good girl friends and I express our love for each other often and this is just another way to show our appreciation for each other.

We Heart Besties Founders Celebrate Galentine’s Day

Anisha Thompson and Candice Owens, the ladies behind We Heart Besties celebrated Galentine’s in a grand way.I asked the ladies about their decision to celebrate the day and they had this to say:

Anisha Thompson:

“I  wanted to celebrate because my bestie is sooooo my soul mate. People often yield to just the eros aspect of Valentines but love in any aspect is to be recognized. Friendship is love, Siblings share love, Neighbors share love…Love unites and being loved by my favorite gal pal is beyond words.”

Candice Denise :

“My reason was because when I think about love and this; holiday it made me think of all forms of love that I share; one very important one to me is with my best friend. Galentines gave me an opportunity to love her a little louder and let the world know just how special our friendship is to me. #BestieQT”

Finally, I love the idea of celebrating the women in my life. Galentine’s Day provides another opportunity to thank the women who are our soulmates, besties and sounding boards.
