#TravelFlySolo2017 Recap

I have been married for 15 years. During that time, I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve been on vacation without my husband- once.   After marriage, the girlfriend vacations just never seem to happen anymore.

When one of my good girlfriends- Ty Alexander, of Gorgeous in Grey gave notice that she was hosting a trip, I checked my account balance and promptly paid my deposit.   As fate would have it, the trip took place during my mothers birthday weekend.   I lost my mother last year and I knew that I needed to honor her legacy by completely focusing on self-care during her born day weekend.   My cousin was my roommate and though I was going to make the trip alone, I was glad she came too.

The concept for Travel Fly Solo is that there is no “group think”.   We were on our own except for a welcome happy hour and a reading from Ty’s book- “Things I Wish I Knew Before My Mom Died”.  The trip personified black girl magic, with many women deciding to go “solo”.

Our trip started with a few setbacks but Jesse Dennis of Travel by Design quickly resolved our travel woes.  (We know we blew your phone up girl, thank you for being such a sweetheart!).   The setting for our getaway was Unico 20.87; an all-inclusive resort that boasts 5 gourmet restaurants, inclusive spa treatments, 24 hour in- room dining and some of the most amazing mixologist I’ve ever encountered.

Travel Fly Solo provides the ultimate girls get away.   Whatever your travel style, active, relaxed or someplace in the middle,  #TravelFlySolo is for you. Thanks to Parlour Magazine for this awesome vision!
