NYFW- Maatano A/W 2013 Food and Fashion!

Let’s skip this winter and fast forward straight to fall which is going to be amazingly dark,  laid back  and regal all at the same time. With tons of texture, gold and prints that keep you mesmerized Mataano served fall on a platter that made you want to devour each piece. The collection channeled Janet Jackson circa 1997 patent leather, cheetah print and it was rich with color.

Speaking of platter as part of the festivities Chef Roble was the master of eats serving a plethora of appetizers that made me want to slap your mother. Chicken, portobello mushroom , succulent steak, mixed greens and tortellini rounded out the menu.

Come fall, I can see I will  need some leather of all types in my wardrobe, and what about that makeup winged liner and those vamp lips ladies get ready for the fall it’s going to be dark and lovely.

New York Fashion Week- Dennis Basso

Dennis Basso paired with Pour La Victorie shoes who’s amazingly crafted designs are equal parts elegant and chic. The presentation was a combination of old world glamour meets Paris socialite as the gowns were reminiscent of times gone by and  meant to conjure up images of a evening out in Deauville, France in the 60’s.  This spring, the topknot is going to be making its rounds again, but with a more polished coiffed look than the haphazard “sock bun” that has been pervasive this season. The beautiful gowns paired with faux fur stoles remind me of the old school style in my grandmother’s closet.   The Pour La Victorie shoes featured in the presentation will be available for a limited time contact 1-855-PourLAV for details.

New York Fashion Week- Rafael Cennamo Review

Rafael Cennamo’s collection launched in 2006 and has since become synonymous with elegant couture. His Spring/Summer 2013 collection featured classic lines with a decidedly modern twist. With delicate pastels, the gowns boasted amazing beading detail with everything from red carpet worthy silver sequins to the most gorgeous voluminous gown, cinched at the waist with a silver belt.   If you are a stylists looking to outfit clients in red-carpet wear sure to land them firmly on the best-dressed list, look no further than Cennamo for the upcoming award season.

Style 360 Sachika Fall 2012 Collection

Short films seemed to be de riguer for the Fall/Winter season as the presentation for the Sachika twins opened to a  short film directed by Actor/Director Matias Desiderio. The film featured a fictional femme-fatale/secret agent named “Ivanka” and the story began on a NYC subway and ended in what appeared to be an abandoned warehouse.  At the conclusion of the film, the lights dimmed and when the first model emerged on the runway it was evident that the collection was going to carry the “femme fatale on a mission” theme set by the film.

The Sachika twins have built a reputation on their creative runway shows and their Fall Style 360 presentation was no exception.   The range included a sumptuous mix of wools, crepe, leather and faux fur and each of the models carried out the “Ivanka” theme on a different mission.   America’s Next Top Model Eva Marcille was a flawless edition to this gorgeous collection.

Risque Business- Emilio Cavallini Fall 2012

I really was not quite sure what to expect when the Emilio Cavallini invite landed in my inbox- my first thought was how in the world are they going to showcase a legwear collection during fashion week? Well the answer to that question came in a delightful presentation that included a gorgeous legwear collection.

The presentation included a short film entitled Risqué Business, which basically features a woman on holiday sampling pieces ranging from lace to bold florals to tattoo motifs. Comparisons to Wolford are inevitable with the bold stripes, creative lace, and gorgeous geometric patterns of the legwear.

The range strives to move hosiery beyond the realm of traditional accessory to a garment unto itself.  Inspired by the 1950’s pin-up model Bettie Page Emilio indicated “Bettie Page was the ultimate femme fatale enticing the fantasies of men… and women at a time when nice girls wouldn’t dare look like that” .The collection is sexy, chic and a must for any woman who is eager to make a sexy statement.

Kmart Concierge at your Service

Anyone attending New York Fashion Week will tell you that in spite of the excitement over the latest trends, the gorgeousness of a perfectly biased cut dress, or color combinations and prints that make you drool, fashion week is not for the faint of heart.   I am always humbled with each invite I receive and am thoroughly giddy when I actually see a presentation, but trust, the experience is grueling… there are early mornings, late nights and feet that will curse you if you even THINK of donning a stiletto.  This is where Kmart Concierge comes in… the lovely folks over at Kmart came up with the GENIUS concept of delivering much needed relief to fashionistas at the tents ( or anywhere else in NYC) during fashion week.   With a simple tweet to @Kmartfashion a bag of Altoids, Advil and much needed flats  or anything else from a list of items could be delivered to you.

I decided to take advantage of the service on my last day of Fashion Week and I was greeted by the gorgeous Christine… here’s a picture of her delivering my goodies.

NYFW Rolando Santana SS 2012

The line of fashionistas wrapped around the block waiting to check in at Exit Art should have been an indication of how incredible the Rolando Santana collection promised to be; though much of the buzz surrounding the SS 2012 collection could be attributed to the designers’ collaboration with Manolo Blahnik, who supplied the shoes for the runway.

From the moment the show opened with the first vintage white dress floating down the runway I knew I was in for a treat.   The collection included a mix of vintage inspired looks with figure-conscious sheath dresses, silver beads and sequins that offered a nod to the roaring 20’s and gorgeous cocktail length dresses which drew inspiration from the 50’s.

The opposite end of the spectrum the collection featured a silver jumpsuit complete with silver sequins and diaphanous sheer details.  There was also what can only be described as sweater twin sets including cardigans and tanks over fitted skirts.
